With a new academic year approaching, some construction projects at UNC are nearing conclusions.

Among the projects underway are a new café and student lounge on the third floor UNC Student Stores overlooking the Pit, replacing pavers, new seating and shade trees on the walkway in front of the House Undergraduate Library, and utility projects on South Road behind Davis Library and Lenoir Hall.

The South Road project will be finished on August 11 and the road will reopen.

Longer-term projects on campus include a new soccer-lacrosse stadium and an indoor practice facility at Fetzer and Navy fields.

There will also be a new field hockey stadium built at Ehringhaus Field and a track complex at Finley Fields. The athletic projects should be completed in about a year.
