Americans are reeling today after yet another mass shooting, this one at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, that left at least 21 dead including 19 children.
In Orange County, local leaders took to social media with their thoughts, prayers, and substantive comments as well.
Here are some of the comments shared on Twitter by elected officials and school administrators, including U.S. House Rep. David Price; State Senator Valerie Foushee; incoming State House Rep. Allen Buansi; UNC Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz (who also weighed in recently, at greater length, on last week’s shooting in Buffalo); Chapel Hill Town Council member Michael Parker; Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools superintendent Nyah Hamlett – and CHCCS board member Rani Dasi, who shared the words of another prominent public figure.
