The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating a traffic collision involving a pedestrian from Wednesday night.
A release from the department Thursday morning said officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian at 10:46 p.m. on Wednesday. The collision reportedly occurred on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the intersection of Homestead Road. After being transported to the emergency department of UNC Hospital, the pedestrian later died from injuries related to the crash.
The release from Chapel Hill Police said the department is continuing to investigate the collision. The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released as authorities notify family members.
