As rain and freezing temperatures create dangerous driving conditions for the second time this week, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools system is moving Friday’s classes to remote learning.
The district shared an alert with families on Thursday afternoon, saying the final day of the quarter will be conducted virtually due to “approaching winter weather.” All athletics and evening events for Thursday through next Monday are being rescheduled to a later date, according to the release. Community Schools after-school care is taking place normally on Thursday evening.
Due to the approaching winter weather, CHCCS will hold a remote (virtual) learning day for all students on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022. This includes ALA and VLA students, whose virtual learning will continue normally. CHCCS school-based and district staff will work remotely. pic.twitter.com/uOfg8N5QqA

Orange County Schools held no class Thursday and already planned for no class Friday, since both days were previously-scheduled teacher workdays. The district held remote learning on Tuesday and Wednesday based on the region’s prior winter weather causing hazardous road conditions.
