Orange County Schools’ leadership awarded Orange High School math teacher Justin Boggus its 2026-27 Teacher of the Year honors on Tuesday.
The district unveiled Boggus as its winner during a ceremony at the Colonial Inn. Boggus was a finalist alongside Hillsborough Elementary second-grade teacher Brittany Laube and Pathways Elementary fourth-grade teacher Heather Rosy. The trio, and ten other OCS Teacher of the Year nominees, received recognition during the event from Superintendent Danielle Jones and the Orange County Schools Board of Education.
Boggus succeeds seventh-grade science teacher at A.L. Stanback Middle School José Hidalgo, who won the OCS Teacher of the Year in 2025-2026.
With his selection, Boggus will now be in line for consideration in North Carolina’s Regional Teacher of the Year honors, with Orange County in the North Central Region. At the district level, he will help organize the district’s cohort of other teachers of the year during the upcoming academic year and represent Orange County Schools at events across the state.
