Carrboro High School dismissed students early Friday due to a power outage at the school.

Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools officials tweeted just after 12:40 p.m. Friday that the power outage was causing the early dismissal.

Approximately 1,500 Orange County residents without power as of 2:20 p.m., according to Duke Energy. The county is under a High Wind Warning until 10 p.m. Friday.

The gusty conditions come after rain fell throughout the day on Thursday. The conditions have led to downed trees all across the county causing traffic delays and power outages.

There is no word that any other schools are impacted by power outages.
