The Orange County government recently announced two dates for its annual Spring Shred-A-Thon.
Residents can bring their confidential documents for free, safe and contact-free destruction and recycling on the next two Saturdays: March 26 and April 2.
On March 26, the Shred-A-Thon will take place in Chapel Hill’s Park & Ride Lot at 1768 Eubanks Road. On April 2, it will be behind the Home Depot at 625 Hampton Pointe in Hillsborough. Drive-thru service will be offered at both events.
Masks will be required at both Shred-A-Thons, and customers must handle their own paper. Orange County requires the paper to be in clear plastic bags or boxes, no larger than a banker box. There is a limit of four bags or boxes and one trip per household. Only confidential papers will be accepted.
The Shred-A-Thon is only available for Orange County residents, small businesses and local government employees only. Chapel Hill residents with a Durham County address are included among this group.
