The larger two-acre dog park at Southern Community Park in Chapel Hill will be closed due to maintenance on Wednesday, August 19.
Signs have been posted notifying users of this brief, one day interruption.
According to the town, maintenance of community dog parks is an important step in controlling overgrowth as well as placing fresh mulch.
The smaller dog park will remain open on August 19, but the town encourages users to please be aware that there is less space and this section is reserved for small to medium-sized dogs.
For larger pets, the paved trails and open space in the adjacent park are recommended.
Finally, when visiting community dog parks, the town advises residents to continue to be conscious of the “three Ws”: wear a face covering, wait six feet apart from people who are not in your household, and wash your hands regularly.
