A water main break is causing outages and low pressure for Pittsboro residents, according to a release from TriRiver Water Tuesday afternoon.
Per the release, the break occurred when a contractor hit a water main near Lowe’s Home Improvement off of Hillsboro St. As a result, TriRiver has shut off water for any customers residing between Basil Womack Drive and Lowes Drive.
“The leak caused the distribution system to hemorrhage around 150,000 gallons of water in a short amount of time,” the release read. “In addition, the water plant cannot resupply the distribution system at this time because of the extent of the damage to the water main. That’s why TriRiver Water customers in the surrounding area may notice low water pressure until this problem is fixed.”
The release said repairs are expected to be completed by TriRiver crews around 5 p.m., and customers can expect their water to return to normal within an hour after they complete repairs.
Customers with further questions are instructed to call TriRiver directly at 919-775-8215.
