The Town of Chapel Hill will operate on a special schedule during the upcoming Christmas Holiday.  Most municipal offices will be closed on December 24, 25 and 28.  Other town services will operate on the following schedules:

  • Chapel Hill Transit: 
    • There will be no service on Friday, Dec. 25.
    • A Saturday service schedule will be in effect Dec. 23-24 and Dec. 26 for routes CM, CW, D, FG, JN and T (No U or NU service)
    • EZ Rider will operate from 8:15 a.m. to 6:52 p.m. The Hillsborough Express 420 route will NOT operate on Thursday, Dec. 24.
  • Chapel Hill Public Library
    • Closed Dec. 24-26
  • Trash Collection: Yard waste will not be collected Thursday and Friday.
    • There will be no commercial service Friday. Friday routes will be collected before the end of the week.
  • Curbside Recycle:
    • There will be no change in schedule Dec. 23 and Dec. 24.
    • There will be no recycling collection on Friday, Dec. 25. Friday routes will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 26.
  • Orange County Landfill:
    • Will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24
    • Closed Dec. 25-26.
  • Orange County Solid Waste Convenience Centers:
    • Closed Dec. 23 and Dec. 25.
    • Eubanks Road and Walnut Grove Church Road sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 24.
  • Housing: 
    • Office and Maintenance Division will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 28.
    • For emergency maintenance services, call 919-968-2855.
  • Parks and Recreation: 
    • The Plant Road administrative office and Chapel Hill Community Center will be closed.
    • For schedules at the Hargraves Center or Northside Gym, call 919-968-2794
    • For schedules at the Homestead Aquatic Center, call 919-968-2799.
