There will be a lot on the line when the North Carolina Tar Heels and Syracuse Orange square off on Saturday night in the Final Four.
Nationally, most will be watching to see which member of the Atlantic Coast Conference will be advancing to the national championship.
But Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger and Mayor Stephanie Miner also placed some personal pride on the line for Saturday’s showdown.
Mayor Miner issued the initial challenge on Wednesday, tweeting that she looked forward to sending a “Real Mayors Wear Orange” t-shirt to Hemminger after the Final Four.

Hemminger accepted the challenge with a “Roses are red, Tarheels are blue. Can’t wait to see how Carolina blue looks on you!” response on Wednesday afternoon.

The loser of the bet will have to wear the opposing shirt at the next public meeting, according to town officials.
