The Town of Chapel Hill’s Parks and Recreation Department is inviting community members to two public input sessions related to upgrades to Homestead Skate Park. The first session will be on Sunday, December 17 at 2 p.m. at the skate park, located at 100 Aquatic Drive. The second sessions is the next day at the Chapel Hill Public Library in Meeting Room B at 6 p.m.

The sessions will be “interactive, relaxed, open conversations,” about what improvements community members would like to see in the park, according to a release from the town. The design company 5th Pocket Skateparks will join the Parks and Recreation staff at the sessions.

“We want to hear from community members involved in all types of wheeled sports like skateboarding, scootering, rollerblading, and freestyle BMX,” the town said.

In March, the Chapel Hill Town Council approved $500,000 in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act to be allocated for the skate park upgrade project.

Community members who can’t make it to the meetings are encouraged to share thoughts and ideas with Senior Manager for Park Planning & Operations Kevin Robinson at 919-969-5104 or krobinson@townofchapelhill.org. For more information, click here.
