Michael Parker has announced that he is running for Chapel Hill Town Council this fall.

Parker is one of several candidates vying to be appointed to the Town Council following the vacancy left when Matt Czjakowski stepped down in March, although it is unclear if the Town Council will appoint a new member before this fall’s election.

Parker serves on the Chapel Hill Planning Commission, in addition to being a board member for the Friends of Downtown and the Arts Center in Carrboro, according to his campaign website.

Parker says via his website that “in the years ahead we will need to address a number of important challenges: enhancing our diversity and affordability; strengthening our transit system; maintaining our hard-won environmental protections in the face of challenges from Raleigh; and ensuring that the kind of growth we experience is the kind of growth we want.”
