It’s a light week in local government with only a handful of meetings – but one of those meetings includes a very large agenda item. That’s the Chapel Hill Town Council, whose Wednesday agenda features a possible zoning vote on a major housing proposal along Weaver Dairy Road: a developer is planning to build more than 600 apartments and townhomes plus retail space, set back from Weaver Dairy along I-40.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties:
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners is holding a budget retreat at 7 p.m. Monday, February 23. Their discussion will cover the next two fiscal years, with a focus on water and sewer rates as well as funding for CASA’s Cedar Village Project. Click here for the full agenda.
The Chapel Hill Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 25. Tops on their agenda is a zoning request for a major development at 860 Weaver Dairy Road, which would build 600-735 apartments and townhomes along with some retail and green space adjacent to I-40. (Council members will also consider a smaller development proposal on Weaver Dairy Road, for four townhomes and a daycare building near the intersection with MLK Boulevard.) Get a link to the full agenda here.
And the Durham school board has two meetings this week: a budget town hall at 6 p.m. Monday, February 23, followed by their regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26. (Monday’s town hall will take place in the Minnie Forte-Brown Staff Development Center, at 2107 Hillandale Road.) Links to both agendas will be available here.
