Many government boards are taking this week off because Election Day is Tuesday, but there are still several key issues on the local agenda. Leading the way, the Orange County Schools board will advance two high-profile discussions: one on the search for the district’s next superintendent, and one on the redistricting process, which will ultimately shift some students from one school to another.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
Orange County Commissioners are holding a work session Thursday, November 9, at 7 p.m. in the Southern Human Services Center. Commissioners will hear updates on the county’s land use plan and facilities master plan; they’ll discuss appointments to various boards and commissions; and they’ll receive a presentation on post-employment benefits. The Orange County School Board meets Monday, November 6, at 7 p.m. in the Whitted Building. On the agenda: board members will get the results of a community survey on the search for the district’s next superintendent, and they’ll continue an ongoing discussion of school redistricting.
