Budget season kicks into high gear this week, as the Chapel Hill Town Council and the Orange and Chatham County Boards of Commissioners all receive their budget recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year. But there are a couple other high-profile items on this week’s local government agendas as well: the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will continue discussing the possible closure of one or two elementary schools, with a looming decision about which ones to shut down; and the Durham City Council will consider a two-year moratorium on AI data centers and data mining facilities within city limits.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
