Budget discussions are likely to kick into high gear soon, but this week in local government is a lighter one. The Hillsborough town board will get a report from the police department and consider a major renovation of the town’s water and sewer facility; meanwhile in Pittsboro, the town board will consider a proposed new residential subdivision and move ahead on plans for a new Town Hall.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners meets at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9. Click here for their agenda, which includes an annual report from the town’s police department and a resolution allocating up to $8.5 million in water and sewer revenue bonds for the renovation and expansion of the Thompson Water/Sewer Facility on Dimmocks Mill Road.
The Carrboro Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, with a light agenda that includes a pair of appointments to the town planning board. Get the full agenda at this link.
Orange County Commissioners have a work session Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the Whitted Building in Hillsborough. Click here for their agenda, which includes a discussion of the county’s 2050 Land Use Plan and appointments to various boards and commissions.
Chatham and Durham Counties
The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners meets at 6 p.m. Monday, March 9. The board will move forward on plans for a new Town Hall building and consider a proposed 98-lot subdivision on Old Graham Road northwest of downtown. Get the full agenda here.

Durham County Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9. Click here for their agenda, which includes a public hearing on plans to create a new fire protection service district.
County commissioners are also slated to meet jointly with the Durham school board at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 10. That agenda will be available via this link.
