This series of posts will be made weekly on Chapelboro to help inform our community about local government meetings. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check town, county, and school district websites for additional information.

This week is a lighter one in local government, as elected officials ramp up their schedules for the new month. Chapel Hill and Carrboro will talk transit, in different ways: the Carrboro Town Council will get an update on proposed state funding for various transportation plans, while Chapel Hill electeds will revisit long-term plans to transform UNC’s Co-Gen rail line into a greenway.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.

Orange County

The Carrboro Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. This week, council members will receive an update on the development of a 10-year State Transportation Improvement Program – and which town projects are currently on tap to receive (and not receive) funding. The Chapel Hill Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the Chapel Hill Public Library. Council members will receive updates on public housing and the process of rewriting the town’s land use management ordinance (LUMO); they’ll also discuss a possible feasibility study for the proposed Co-Gen Rail Transformation Project, and they’ll hear from outside agencies that receive town funding.
