Ordinarily this is a longer post, but this is a very light week for local government meetings. With most elected boards taking the week off, there’s really only one item on this week’s agenda: next year’s education budget. The CHCCS board and the Durham school board are both convening to consider that topic in the next few days.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties:
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board is the only elected board in Orange County to hold a regular meeting this week. They’re holding a work session on Thursday, February 2, at 6 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road, with next year’s budget tops on the agenda. Get the full agenda at this link.
Education budgets are also the primary agenda item in Durham, as Durham County Commissioners meet jointly with the Durham Public School Board Tuesday, January 31, at 9:00 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers. Click here for the full agenda.
And the Chapel Hill Town Council also convenes this week, but not for a regular meeting. Council members are holding a two-day retreat at the Sheraton Hotel, starting at 3:30 on Friday, February 3, and continuing into the following day.
