This week in local government marks a bit of a lull before budget season kicks into full swing. In Carrboro, the town council will tackle Chantal recovery, while Orange County Commissioners hold a discussion on public transit and Hillsborough electeds meet jointly with the town’s planning board.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
The Carrboro Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 17. Click here for the agenda, which includes an update on Tropical Storm Chantal recovery and a presentation on stormwater infrastructure and fees.
Orange County Commissioners also meet Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the Southern Human Services Center. Commissioners will discuss recent transit work programs and receive reports on Orange County’s animal services department and Longtime Homeowner Assistance Program. Read the full agenda here.
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners is meeting jointly with the town’s planning board at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 19. Click here for the agenda, which includes public hearings on a pair of rezoning requests and an amendment to the town’s ordinance regarding the Historic District Commission.
The Orange County school board has a work session on summer programming Monday, February 16, at 7 p.m. in the Whitted Building. Click here for the board’s full agenda.
And the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board is slated to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 19. Their agenda will be posted here.
Chatham and Durham Counties
Chatham County Commissioners meet in the Pittsboro courthouse Monday, February 16. Their meeting begins at 2 p.m. with a work session, where they’ll receive the results of last year’s financial audit and a resident satisfaction survey – followed by a regular session at 6 p.m. that includes a resolution on juvenile justice and a vote to develop Parkers Ridge Park in Moncure. And the Durham City Council meets twice this week: a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, February 16, followed by a work session at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 19. Monday’s meeting includes public hearings on the city’s annual action plan for federal block grant spending and a proposed 81-acre development called Leigh Village Center that would be built near NC-54 just west of I-40. Thursday’s meeting includes a quarterly crime report and the results of a citywide disparity study. Get links to both agendas here.
