It’s a big week for the Carrboro Town Council, as council members again consider moving forward on the 203 S. Greensboro project – which has drawn increased opposition as costs have risen and the development as a whole grows closer to becoming a reality. Manufactured housing is also on the agenda this week, as Orange County Commissioners and the Carrboro and Chapel Hill Town Councils each get a look at a county-wide action plan.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.

Orange County

The Carrboro Town Council meets virtually Tuesday night at 7 p.m. with one very big agenda item: after a public hearing, council members will vote on whether to move forward with a contract for the 203 S. Greensboro project. Council members will also discuss a county-wide action plan for manufactured housing. Click here for a link to the full agenda.

That manufactured housing plan is also on the agenda for Orange County Commissioners when they meet Tuesday, also at 7 p.m. at the Whitted Building in Hillsborough. In addition to manufactured housing, board members will hear from the public on capital investments and get an evaluation for the county’s longtime-homeowner assistance program. The Chapel Hill Town Council meets virtually on Wednesday. Council members will consider endorsing the county’s manufactured-housing action plan; they’ll get the results of this year’s community survey; they’ll get an update on the One Orange Racial Equity Framework; and they’ll consider renaming the Chapel Hill Transit facility in honor of Howard and Lillian Lee. Finally, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board meets on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center. Board members will hold a work session on the budget and discuss the future of the district’s School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Click here for the full agenda.

Durham and Chatham Counties

Durham County Commissioners held a work session on Monday – hearing presentations about mental health and Black maternal health, getting an update on the county’s 10-year capital improvement plan, and viewing the results of a study on opportunities from a possible commuter rail line. The Durham City Council also met on Monday, considering facility upgrades at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park – but the city council has a longer agenda at its work session Thursday at 1 p.m. There, council members will decide which applicants to interview for an open council seat, and they’ll vote to approve a legislative agenda for the General Assembly this year. And the Durham Public School Board meets on Thursday at 5 p.m. The agenda has not yet been posted, but it will be available at this link.

In Chatham, county commissioners met Monday to hear a presentation on an audit of the Unified Development Ordinance Code. The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners, meanwhile, will hold its annual budget retreat on Thursday, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Get the full agenda at this link.
