The two men vying to be Orange County’s next sheriff will face each other on Wednesday for one final forum before the July 15 runoff election.

Charles Blackwood and David Caldwell beat out four other candidates in the May primary, but neither received more than 40 percent of the vote. Caldwell, who came in second, requested the runoff.

Blackwood is a 32-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office who served as Major of Operations until his retirement in 2012. Caldwell retired from the Sheriff’s Office after 22 years to become a community organizer for the Rogers Road neighborhood. The two will sit down with WCHL’s Aaron Keck in the studio from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday for a live debate.

Early voting starts Thursday and runs through July 8 at the Board of Elections office in Hillsborough. The primary is July 15.
