Thursday was day one of early voting in North Carolina, and 38 people cast their ballots at the Board of Elections office in Hillsborough. It was exactly the same story on Friday – with 38 people turning out once again, for a total of 76.
But turnout will increase this week, as three more early-voting sites open up in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Beginning Monday, October 23, you can vote early at the Seymour Center off Homestead Road, Chapel of the Cross on Franklin Street downtown, and Carrboro Town Hall on Main Street in addition to the Board of Elections office in Hillsborough.
Early voting runs for the next two weeks, through Saturday, November 4.
The Board of Elections office and Carrboro Town Hall are both open Monday-Friday from 9 am-6 pm, and Saturday from 9-1.
The other two sites, Chapel of the Cross and the Seymour Center, are open Monday-Friday from noon to 7 pm, and Saturday from 9-1.
All four sites will close at 5 pm on Halloween. Also, the Chapel of the Cross location will not be open on Saturday, October 28, because of UNC’s home football game.
Full list of dates and times here.
If you’re a registered voter in Orange County, you can vote at any of those four sites. Same-day registration is available too, so you can register and vote on the same day during the early voting period. (You can also change your address if you need to do that.)
For more information on early voting, visit the Orange County Board of Elections website.
In Orange County, there are seven candidates on the ballot for four seats on the Chapel Hill Town Council, and seven candidates for four seats on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board. There are also contested races for Chapel Hill Mayor, Hillsborough Mayor, Carrboro Mayor, and Carrboro Board of Aldermen.
