Proponents of property expansion in Hillsborough will have an opportunity to communicate with town officials next month during a hearing on the development of accessory dwellings.
According to a press release from the municipal government, the hearing is intended to provide an outlet for public feedback on proposed changes to certain local housing laws.
These changes would waive the necessities of public screenings and neighbor notifications for homeowners who wish to build additions and freestanding rental units on their properties.
Town officials were instructed in January by the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners to plan the hearing due to public comments that were presented during a meeting.
The hearing is open to all residents and will take place on April 20 at 7:00 PM in the town barn, which is located on the town hall campus near 101 East Orange Street.
An informal online survey on the matter has also been initiated by the municipal government to gauge public opinion ahead of the hearing.
