Construction on the new luxury, 13 screen movie theater in Chapel Hill’s University Mall is expected to begin in April of this year.

The Triangle Business Journal reports that Silverspot Cinema, which is moving into the Dillard’s department store space, is slated to open by May 1, 2015.

The $7 million theater and restaurant concept, to be located off S. Estes, will offer independent and foreign films in addition to blockbusters and 3D films. Alternative content such as live broadcasts of international opera, ballet, and theatrical performances will be featured as well.

Silverspot Cinema Representative Lieska Campos told WCHL News in November that the opening of a location typically created about 60 jobs, nearly double the number of employees that Dillard’s location had.
