Chapel Hill Police charged the motorist in a hit and run case following a days-long investigation.
A release from the Town of Chapel Hill Thursday night said Paul Russell James, 26, faces four charges in connection with the motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Sunday, August 30. James, who is listed as a Durham resident, faces charges of felony serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving to endanger persons, driving while impaired, and felony hit and run inflicting serious injury.
On Sunday, Chapel Hill Police said they were investigating a hit and run incident near Old Durham Road near Scarlett Drive. One pedestrian was injured following a vehicle collision and was taken to UNC Hospitals.
The town has not provided an update on the injured pedestrian’s status.
James is due in court for his first appearance on these charges on October 1 in Hillsborough.
