A shooting Thursday morning in the northern part of Hillsborough injured one person and led to a Durham man facing a pair of charges, according to police.

A release from the Hillsborough Police Department detailed the arrest of 57-year-old Anthony Hunt of Durham, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of cocaine. Around 10 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Lawndale Avenue — which is off Cornelius Street/U.S. 70 — and found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the Hillsborough Police described his condition as stable.

Hunt was not immediately found upon the officers’ response, but was later located and arrested in the area. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office aided in the search and arrest, according to Thursday’s alert. Hunt is being held in the Orange County Detention center without bond.

Hillsborough Police said investigators are still collecting evidence from the shooting.
