A Durham man was arrested Thursday morning on murder charges in connection with the December 1, 2015 shooting death of 29-year-old Shawn Cade-Oree on Concord Street, according to police reports.
Christopher Emmanuel Wiggins, 20 years old, was indicted Monday by a Durham County grand jury on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was arrested without incident in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on N.C. 55 by members of the Durham Police Department’s Selective Enforcement Team.
He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed gun.
His cousin, Eric Gershon Wiggins, 25, of Durham, was also indicted Monday on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. He is not in custody at this time.

Officers were dispatched at 11:50 p.m. on December 1 to a shooting call in the 2200 block of Concord Street. When they arrived they found Cade-Oree, who was rushed to the hospital, but later died.
The shooting appeared to have resulted from a dispute and did not appear to be random, according to police reports.
