CHAPEL HILL – Chapel Hill Police responded to a 911 call early Tuesday morning of a man who was reportedly stabbed by his brother.
Officers responded just before 5:00 a.m. to the Bolinwood Apartments on Umstead Drive where the victim was reportedly outside with his wife. Police checked the inside of an apartment unit and captured the suspect.
According to Sergeant Josh Mecimore of the Chapel Hill Police Department, the victim had a laceration across his arm and was advised to get stitches, but his injuries were not serious enough for him to be transported to UNC Hospitals.
“EMS just bandaged his arm; it didn’t require transport to the ER,” says Sgt. Mecimore. “It’s not clear whether he was stabbed in the arm or just cut across the arm.”
Sgt. Mecimore confirms that 30-year-old William Andre Jones has been arrested as a suspect in the assault with a deadly weapon charge. Jones is now in Orange County Jail being held on a $1,500 secured bond. As of Tuesday morning, county records showed that he had not yet been released.
