Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have made a cocaine bust after towing a disabled vehicle.

Authorities announced that deputies responded to a disabled vehicle on NC 54 near the Chapel Hill – Carrboro town limits on January 11 because the vehicle was causing a traffic hazard.

The vehicle was then towed, according to officials, and deputies discovered a hidden compartment while doing inventory of the vehicle.

A release says that a hidden compartment contained “a large quantity of suspected cocaine.”

Law enforcement did not specify whether any suspects were in custody.

No further information was immediately available.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact investigator B.K. Wilkerson at (919) 245-2900. Authorities say callers can remain anonymous.
