The Chatham County community will have an additional way to be tested for the coronavirus on Thursday.

The Chatham County Health Department alerted the community to a free testing event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Northwood High School near Pittsboro.

One of many similar testing events put on by local governments and StarMed Healthcare, a primary and urgent care company based out of Charlotte, community members can receive nasal swab tests for COVID-19 free of charge. Patients typically receive their test results back in around three days via text or phone call.

Additionally, StarMed and the Chatham County Health Department are offering rapid blood antibody tests for $50 each. Patients who take those will receive their results in five to ten minutes after the test is administered, according to the health department.

Community members planning on going to Northwood High on Thursday can text “COVID” to 704-850-6996 to pre-register for the testing event, said Chatham County. You can also register on-site and be screened by a provider.
