Despite its status as one of the largest cities in the state, Chapel Hill has a small-town feel. Between the passionate sports fans and local festivals, it seems as if everyone in Chapel Hill knows each other. When combined with the attractive and artistic architecture from the university and the many forest trails around the city, it’s easy to see why Chapel Hill is a place many people want to visit.

Perhaps noticing these features, Southern Living recently published “The South’s Prettiest Cities 2018,” which lists Chapel Hill at No. 10 on the list of most attractive cities in the South.

The list features some well-known cities in the South.

Charleston (SC) tops the list at No. 1, while the rest of the top five includes Savannah (GA), Asheville (NC), Annapolis (MD) and Sarasota (FL).

The only other North Carolina city to be included is Wilmington at No. 8.

Interesting note, neither Durham or Raleigh were nominated for this honor.
