Hillsborough Mayor Mark Bell joins 97.9 The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell over the phone on Tuesday, July 9. With the summer temperatures once again reaching triple digits on the heat index, the local governments of Orange County have set up cooling stations to help provide anyone access to air conditioning and water — with Bell sharing Hillsborough’s locations. The town is also getting ready for its first meeting about affordable housing in the community, where local experts will present to the board of commissioners. Bell helps preview that event, and shares what he’s looking forward the most to learning about from the series.

Conversations With the Mayors is an ongoing series on “News on the Hill” where host Andrew Stuckey visits with the local government leaders who help shape our communities. Each Tuesday he visits with Hillsborough Mayor Mark Bell; Wednesdays feature a conversation with Chair of the Orange County Commissioners Jamezetta Bedford; Thursdays feature Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson, and Fridays include a conversation with Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee.
