Frances Henderson, executive director for the Dispute Settlement Center, has provided over thirty years of service as a mediator and her work providing conflict resolution and restorative justice has ensured the center and the people it has served will continue to thrive for years to come as she announces her retirement in 2024.

This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Robert Porter! Porter teaches in UNC’s department of African, African-American and Diaspora Studies, and has a reputation for being a supportive, accommodating and engaging teacher.

This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Marni Holder! Holder is the director of community health initiatives for UNC, and spend years working with Piedmont Health Services finding public health solutions for uninsured and undeserved populations.

For over 20 years, Sharon Reid has been connected with EmPOWERment, and her current position as lead housing counselor has seen her making a difference, working with local families, and being named Housing Counselor of the Year by North Carolina Housing Coalition!
