Early Sunday morning, 9 people were killed and 53 were injured by a gunman at a nightclub in Orlando. It is the worst massing shooting in the history of the United States. Vigils and tributes to victims are happening all over the world as well as locally here in North Carolina.
A Community Gathering in Solidarity with Orlando will take place Tuesday night at 6:00 PM at Carrboro Town Commons.
In Durham, the LGBTQ Center of Durham will host a vigil at the bar on Rigsbee Avenue Tuesday “to stand in solidarity as we mourn the loss of those killed in the horrific shooting at Pulse nighclub in Orlando.”
The United Church of Chapel Hill hosted a prayer vigil Monday night at 6:30 to “honor the lives of those who were killed in the Orlando shooting, to pray for the injured, to stand alongside their families and loved ones and to acknowledge our own grief at these horrific losses.”
Internationalist Books on Lloyd St in Carrboro hosted a community candle lighting on Monday at 8 PM.
