UNC offensive guard Landon Turner was named first-team All-American by the Associated Press on Sunday.

The senior lineman from Virginia was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference following his strong season on the Tar Heel offensive line.

Turner was also named the winner of the 2015 Jim Parker Award, which is given annually by the Touchdown Club of Columbus to the nation’s top offensive lineman.

Turner was a four-year starter at Carolina and was named as a preseason All-American.

The Turner-led UNC offensive line allowed 12 sacks during the regular season, which is the fewest in the ACC and eighth best in the country, on the way to an 11-2 record and Coastal Division Championship.

Two Clemson Tigers – sophomore quarterback Deshaun Watson and junior defensive end Shaq Lawson – were also named first-team All-American, along with Duke senior safety Jeremy Cash.

Landon Turner and the rest of the No. 10 Carolina Tar Heel football team will be facing off with the No. 18 Baylor Bears in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Tuesday, December 29, at 5:30.
