Today is Friday, October 16, 2015. We will start out with a lovely video called Friends Furever. A strange star also makes the news. There is also a Target with a very “adult” problem.
A perfect video to start your Friday. Enjoy Friends Furever.
The Strangest Star in the Universe
Is a star called KIC 8462852 harboring a structure built by an advanced alien civilization?
Probably not.
NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope could possibly detect artificial structures on stars. “Over the duration of the Kepler mission, KIC 8462852 was observed to undergo irregularly shaped, aperiodic dips in flux down to below the 20 percent level,” according to a paper submitted to the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society journal.
That created some hype in the astronomy world.
But, we should apparently take it down a notch. Penn State astronomer Kimberly Cartier told Business Insider, “It’s gotten a bit out of hand.” They cannot rule out the possibility of an advanced alien structure on the star. But, they do not think it is likely.
The star KIC 8462852 is over 1,400 light years from Earth. So, we probably will not get invaded any time soon.
“Adult” Target
Customers at a California Target heard something interesting while shopping Wednesday morning.
Moans and profanity were broadcast over the speakers in Target. The pornographic audio lasted for about 30 seconds.
Target is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A spokesperson told the Minnesota Star-Tribune, “We are actively reviewing the situation with the team to better understand what happened and to help ensure this doesn’t happen again. Because this is an active investigation, I’m unable to share additional details, but we want our guests to know that we take this very seriously.”
