Shine Your Light – Art Created by People Living with Dementia

World Alzheimer’s Month

CARRBORO, NC — The ArtsCenter, in collaboration with community partners, will present Shine Your Light, a gallery exhibition featuring artwork created by people living with dementia. Facilitated by art teachers Dana Dayan and Deb Suchoff with participants from the Norma & Robert Gindes Adult Day Center, the exhibition showcases more than 60 mixed-media works that highlight creativity, expression, and human connection.

The exhibition opens with a public reception on Thursday, September 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to view the artwork, participate in a hands-on art activity, and learn about local resources available to individuals experiencing memory loss and their care partners. Several community organizations will be present to share information and support services.

Community members are encouraged to attend, particularly those interested in learning more about memory-related resources or whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.

The exhibit will remain on display throughout September in recognition of World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting the millions of people worldwide affected by dementia.
