Event Details

The 255th Regulator Remembrance Day Event will occur at 6:00pm on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the Regulator Historic Marker Site (200
East King Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278). Organized by Scott Washington, former Assistant Director of the Orange County Historical Museum, it’s a chance for the public to remember six brave men, accused of high treason, who were executed by English Colonial Governor William Tryon on June 19, 1771 for daring to question unfair English colonial policies. The annual event is FREE, short, and open to the public (all ages) and Regulator descendants, too! All who come are invited to bring flowers to lay at the site during the event, just like people have done for 255 years! Staff from the Alamance County Battleground State Historic Site will be present, too. There will be additional events at the Battleground on Saturday
