DRIVE-IN: an exhibition of and about cars aims to explore something beyond typical “car culture.” The emotion behind motion, the design, sculptural, and graphic aspects of transportation. How something many use everyday can be utilitarian, cinematic, beautiful, ugly, ephemeral all at once. How for many artists the car doubles as a studio. And so on.

Curated by Lindsay Metivier, this show brings together works by 20 local artists across multiple mediums and will be on view for the months of June & July. The extended showing has inspired the gallery’s programming for its duration. The first reception will be a traditional opening with a twist.  The June 13th event will be held as a part of Chapel Hill/Carrboro’s 2nd Friday Artwalk and include live music, refreshments, and live screenprinting posters designed and made by a Super G Print Lab printer. Calling back to the era of drive-ins, Peel’s parking lot located directly behind the building will be fitted to project a slideshow of exhibit related photography.
