Mark Hewitt Pottery Summer Kiln Opening

Looking for something unique and fun to do? Head out to Mark Hewitt Pottery near Pittsboro, NC for their Summer Kiln Opening! Explore the rustic barn filled with beautiful handmade pottery, walk inside a massive wood-fired kiln, stroll by the pond and open fields, and meet fellow pottery lovers. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly experience that feels equal parts art/craft show, country getaway, and treasure hunt!

More than 1,000 freshly fired fine-crafted pieces fill the barn showroom, from comfy mugs and ramen bowls to pitchers, plates, and one-of-a-kind statement home décor pieces for your apartment or home, plus a stand of Mark Hewitt’s famous “Big Pots” — huge sculptural pots that are seriously impressive up close.

It’s your chance to meet master potter Mark Hewitt, and visiting artist Sam Barringer, and see where the magic happens. There’s plenty of space to wander, take photos, hang with friends, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon outdoors away from screens and crowds.

Whether you’re hunting for your favorite coffee mug, the perfect gift, a fun family outing, or a pleasant day trip with friends, this beloved twice-a-year Pittsboro tradition is worth the drive.
