The choirs of St. Luke’s and St. Philip’s Episcopal Churches will combine their voices to offer Choral Evensong on Sunday, March 2nd at 4:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s,1737 Hillandale Road, Durham. Music is by T. Frederick H. Candlyn, William Smith, G.M. Garrett, and Evening Canticles by David Arcus. Music will be under the direction of Lewis Moore, Director of Music Ministries at St. Philip’s; Kaye Saunders, Music Director at St. Luke’s; and David Arcus, Organist at St. Luke’s. Presiding clergy will be The Rev. Susan S. Keedy and The Rev. Gabe Lamazares.
Choral Evensong, a centuries-old English tradition, is a contemplative and uplifting service of sung evening prayer. The liturgy is primarily sung or chanted, with the congregation participating through hymn singing, prayers, and recitation of the Apostles’ Creed. All are warmly invited to attend this event.
