Tuesday night, the Carrboro Board of Aldermen voted to enter into a $130,000 preliminary engineering project to extend sewer service to the Historic Rogers Road area.
Less green space and increased storm water runoff were two of the main worries expressed by people attending Thursday’s public information forum on the Ephesus-Fordham Small Area Plan.
Chapel Hill Town Council member Ed Harrison says the Federal Transportation Administration’s approval of the Durham-Orange Light Rail plan clears a major hurdle for the project.
“I’m just really happy to be able to share the news that came out just late this afternoon that the Federal Transit Administration announced that they have approved Triangle Transit’s request to move the Durham-Orange Light Rail project into project development phase,” Carrboro Alderman Damon Seils announced, to a chorus of “wows” from his colleagues.
“The northern part of this area is the gateway to Town. The code should specify, in more detail, the character that the community would like to see in this area..”
“I believe we’ve also inspired some change and new approaches to meeting the needs of young people by non-government organizations in our community,” Mayor Kleinschmidt says.
A new proposed mural at Jones Ferry and N.C. 54 has passed the Carrboro Arts Committee, and is now being reviewed before going to the Board of Alderman.
