Chair of the Chatham County Commissioners Karen Howard spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Wednesday, June 21st. She discussed the mural dedication at George Moses Horton Middle School on Saturday, as well as Pittsboro’s Juneteenth Celebration. She also talked about details in the recently passed Chatham County budget, and talked about what is next for the county commissioners.

She discussed the county budget, which will include a tax increase in order to make compensation for county staff more competitive. She also discussed the upcoming graduation ceremonies at Chatham County Schools, which includes her own son’s graduation at Northwood High School.  She concluded with a discussion of the Juneteenth festivities around Chatham County, including a new mural in downtown Pittsboro.
