Tigers Edge Powerful Knights and Claim First Place in Big 8-3A Conference

The Chapel Hill Tigers came from 9 points down in the 3rd quarter and defeated the Northern Knights 52-51 and walked out of Northern Durham with the top spot in the Big 8 – 3A Conference.  The Tigers employed a stingy half court defense in the 3rd quarter forcing multiple turnovers by the Knights.  Those turnovers were converted into points through several 3 pointers by Tiger forward Ben Gaynes and clutch free throw shooting by Senior Maxwell Connolly. Tigers Turn It Up A Notch and Defeat Apex Cougars 66-56 In South Granville Holiday Tournament

The Northern Knights used a balanced offensive attack, stingy defense, and an endless supply of enthusiasm to defeat the Northwood Chargers 34-7 and claim a Big 8 – 3A Conference Co-Championship with the Orange Panthers.  A game that was much more exciting than the score was filled with one big play after another leaving the spectators as wired as the players. Hillside’s talented roster was displayed in full force Friday night when the Hornets won the turnover battle and toppled the conference leading Northwood Chargers 35-28 in front of a capacity crowd in Pittsboro.  The Hornets used a combination of hard nosed running behind tailback Tyhijar Green, great offensive line play, a stingy defense, and some timely turnovers to beat a hot Charger team on Senior night.
