Longtime Chapel Hill Business Owner and Community Supporter Jack Sanders Passes Away
John Martin “Jack” Sanders, 63, of Chapel Hill, passed away on January 5, 2025.
Jack was the longtime owner of Jack Sanders Paint Company, which he founded in 1988 and operated with pride for more than three decades. Through his work, he built lasting relationships across Chapel Hill and was widely known for his friendliness, reliability, and willingness to help others. He was a graduate of Chapel Hill High School.
Beyond his business, Jack quietly gave back to the community in many ways, including providing free painting services to the Ronald McDonald House and supporting neighbors and local organizations throughout town.
Jack enjoyed golf, trips to the beach, watching UNC sports, and sharing stories from a life deeply rooted in Chapel Hill. He was known for his warmth, humor, and ability to make people feel welcome.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Amy Sanders; his children, Sean Sanders, Cameron Sanders, and Sydney Barrier; and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at Pantana Bob’s on January 23, 2026, from 4:30–8:00 p.m., in Chapel Hill.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been established by his children to support his family and assist with end-of-life expenses.
