UNC has named Seth Reeves as the next executive director of The Rams Club. Officially known as “The Educational Foundation, Inc.,” The Rams Club is the largest fundraising organization dedicated to supporting Tar Heel athletes and coaches.

Reeves will replace the outgoing John Montgomery, who will retire from the executive director position at the end of the calendar year. Montgomery served 24 years in the role, and Reeves will be just the fourth executive director in the 87-year history of The Rams Club. His first day of work will be September 1.

“I am deeply grateful to the search committee, to our Executive Board of Directors and to [athletic director] Bubba Cunningham for the trust they have placed in me with this opportunity,” Reeves said in a statement to UNC. “I am equally thankful to more than 22,000 Rams Club members whose generosity and passion fuel Carolina Athletics and create life-changing opportunities for our student-athletes. The Rams Club is a distinguished organization with a proud history, and I look forward to working alongside our incredible staff and wonderful supporters to build on that foundation as we continue to strengthen Carolina’s position as a leader in college athletics.”

Reeves earned a master’s degree in exercise & sport science from UNC in 2005 and joined the Rams Club in 2016. He has also worked with the university by serving in several roles with Tar Heel Sports Properties.

Jim Sigman, chair of The Rams Club’s executive board of directors, called Reeves “a respected and thoughtful leader” in the organization, and noted the “incredible momentum” it has built with Reeves on the workforce. Sigman said Reeves will “continue to challenge his team and the supporters of Carolina Athletics to adapt to the rapidly changing environment of college athletics.”

Cunningham described Reeves as “vital” to The Rams Club’s success in connecting with members of the UNC athletic department, and said he will “do an outstanding job” in his new role.
