Hulu will produce a season-long series about UNC football, the program announced Sunday, teasing the series with a video of Bill Belichick discussing it with the Tar Heels.
The news of a Hulu series focusing on the Tar Heels was originally reported by Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports in July. At the time, Glasspiegel said early-stage production on the series had already begun, and that the two sides were finalizing an agreement. A spokesman for the football program declined to comment on the situation.
Sunday’s announcement comes roughly six months after separate reports linking Belichick’s Tar Heels with the HBO docuseries “Hard Knocks.” The two sides were reportedly close to agreeing to a deal before it fell through. The rumored reason for the talks stalling was Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, who wanted creative control over the series.
Glasspiegel says the title for the Hulu series, which will be produced by EverWonder Studio, is unknown, though a firm controlled by Hudson has registered trademarks for phrases including “Chapel Bill (Bill’s Version),” “Do Your Job: (Bill’s Version)” and “No Days Off (Bill’s Version).”
The 2025 season will be Belichick’s first as head coach of the Tar Heels, after the eight-time Super Bowl champion joined the program last December. Carolina kicks off its season the night of Monday, September 1 when it hosts TCU at Kenan Stadium. The game will be broadcast by ESPN, which like Hulu, is owned by The Walt Disney Company.
