UNC head football coach Bill Belichick will appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Friday morning for an interview with anchor (and NFL Hall of Famer) Michael Strahan. The interview will be Belichick’s first public appearance since his contentious interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” in April. The interview was ostensibly to promote the head coach’s new book, “The Art of Winning.”

The interview went viral after reporter Tony Dokoupil asked Belichick about his relationship with his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, who was supervising the interview and who Dokoupil described as a “constant” presence. Hudson quickly cut Dokoupil off when he asked how the pair met, and reportedly delayed shooting by 30 minutes after “storming” out of the room. CBS would call off a planned follow-up interview with Belichick.

Belichick issued a statement in the wake of the interview in which he criticized a “false narrative” being implied throughout the piece. CBS News responded with its own statement, standing by its reporting.

Strahan and Belichick are forever linked in NFL history, as Strahan’s New York Giants spoiled a potential perfect season for Belichick’s New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. It was Strahan’s last professional game, as he retired the following offseason.

“Good Morning America” is a two-hour broadcast which begins at 7 a.m. Eastern time and ends at 9 a.m. It is unknown when during the broadcast Belichick will appear. The Triangle’s ABC affiliate is WTVD, which is available on all major cable packages, as well as cord-cutting options like YouTube TV, Hulu and Sling.
