With the new album “Between the Blades” now out, and a big show coming up this Thursday, Libby Rodenbough joined Aaron on Live & Local.

Listen to the full album on Bandcamp.

Released last month by Sleepy Cat Records, “Between the Blades” is Rodenbough’s second album as a solo artist. She wrote many of the album’s eight songs shortly after her mother passed away, but she says it’s not an album about grief: rather, she says, it’s about “trying to keep the faith – believing life can be new and even better.” Rodenbough recorded the album in Virginia last year, with a team of artists including co-producers Alex Bingham and Saman Khoujinian. (The lead single, “Easier To Run,” has been in 97.9 The Hill’s regular rotation since it first dropped in February.)

Rodenbough is in the middle of a busy year: not only has she been finishing “Between the Blades,” she’s also working on a new album with her band Mipso. She says that album will likely be out this fall.

In the meantime, though, she’s celebrating “Between the Blades” with an album-release show at the Haw River Ballroom this Thursday, June 22. The show begins at 8:00 p.m., with Hard Drive opening.

Libby Rodenbough stopped by “Live & Local” to discuss the album and perform three songs live: “Easier To Run,” “Another World,” and “Waking World.” Listen:
